Text Tartan
A tartan is a threadcount: a run of colour/width pairs that is mirrored about its pivots and woven as a 2/2 twill, every thread passing over two and under two. This loom reads a threadcount out of text. Each word is a stripe in the colour of its first letter (vowels warm, consonants cool) and two threads per letter wide; full stops are black guard lines, commas white. The first sentence, reflected, is the sett that repeats across the warp; the whole text, in order, is the weft, so the cloth is different at every row.
In the tartan of two texts mode the warp comes from one text and the weft from another, and the result is a plaid of the two. The thread slider zooms the cloth from a distant one pixel per thread to six, where the twill's diagonal and the fibres show. Register a pattern to keep it in this browser; export the whole cloth as a 2048 px PNG or the sett alone as a small SVG.
