Every card is an author from the library catalog whose place of death Wikidata records, showing the current local time there and whether the sun is up, setting, down or rising. The one whose sunset is nearest right now, before or after, takes the big panel at the top, and the strip beneath it puts everyone on one 24-hour day. Sort by nearness to sunset, by local time, by name or by year of death, and filter by name, place or zone; the sort and filter are kept in the address bar.
Data: names were taken from the catalog and matched to Wikidata (CC0) automatically by label and alias, preferring people with writer-type occupations and skipping names that several writers share; a few were checked by hand. Place of death, its coordinates and the date of death come from Wikidata; the time zone was chosen offline from the coordinates and country using the IANA tz database’s zone table (public domain). Mistakes are possible: every name links to its Wikidata entry so you can check. Sunrise and sunset use the NOAA solar-position equations and are accurate to about a minute.
