About this map
Every station is a book from the library catalogue. The twelve lines are its genres, grouped so each line is worth riding; along a line, consecutive stops are the books whose titles, authors and short descriptions overlap most (TF-IDF cosine, ordered by a greedy tour tidied with 2-opt). Where two lines cross, the pair of nearby books that share the most words becomes an interchange, and a dashed walking link joins a strongly related pair that ended up a street apart.
Journeys
The planner rides along lines (one stop costs one) and changes at interchanges (a change costs three stops, a walk four), so it prefers staying on a line over hopping about. It is a way of browsing, not a reading of the books: two novels about the same thing in different words are strangers to it.
Map
Lines are routed on a grid at 0°, 45° and 90°, London style: ticks are ordinary stations, white rings are interchanges. Zoom in for every title; zoomed out, the map keeps interchanges, termini and line names. The Grand Tour overlay is one dotted route through every book, each stop close to the last, drawn from today's date.

Data
The site's own catalogue (assets/data/library.json: titles, authors, genres and one-line descriptions of the books on Jack's shelves), computed entirely in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. If the catalogue cannot be loaded, a small set of invented books stands in. The reading list is kept in this browser only.
